Logicalis brings managed services hub back to Blighty
Former Malaysian centre relocated to Wales in move designed to improve customer focus
Logicalis has cut the ribbon on its new Welsh managed services centre (MSC) after relocating the hub from its former home in Malaysia.
The Datatec-owned VAR unveiled the plans to bring the centre back to the UK from south-east Asia in May, and the facility opened for business earlier this month.
The move has created 20 new jobs for the firm, as well as prompting the arrival of a new apprentice scheme.
Logicalis' managed services director Tim Wadely said that there was nothing wrong with its offshore facility, but that bringing it back to Wales will improve things for its customers.
"Although Logicalis in Malaysia was doing a good job, we saw an opportunity to introduce a different approach," he said. "Our new MSC staff in Wales are far more immersed in the operational tempo and lifecycles of UK organisations, helping us to improve response times and be more aligned to our clients' business requirements.
"This move is one element in an ongoing process to overhaul the services that we offer and how we govern those propositions, to deliver service improvements for our customers."
The Welsh Government supported the new Welsh hub, providing £438,000 of finance to the new facility.
Logicalis' managing director Mark Starkey said the new centre supports his firm's aim to be considered the best ICT service provider in the UK.
