Buffalo adds CMS to distribution herd

Vendor hopes to charge deeper into the NAS market with new distie signing

Vendor Buffalo has signed up CMS Distribution as part of its assault on the network-attached storage (NAS) market.

CMS is an addition to the firm's current UK distie line-up, joining existing partners Ingram Micro, C2000 and Micro-P.

Buffalo claims the partnership will help it tighten its grip on the NAS market. It has launched eight new products in the past year which it hopes the distie will be able to flog to its 2,000-strong storage reseller base.

The NAS market has been pinpointed as a high-growth segment within the storage market and in March this year, IDC said NAS helped drive a factory revenue surge of 7.5 per cent to $2.1bn (£1.4bn) in 2012's final quarter.

Buffalo's sales director for Northern Europe said his company has been proactively creating NAS products in light of the market growth, and that the CMS deal will enable more businesses to benefit from its expanding product portfolio.

"CMS Distribution is a renowned specialist storage distributor with a strong UK and Ireland market influence," he said. "The new partnership will enhance our reputation as a provider of reliable storage solutions within the increasingly competitive NAS market, while also helping us boost our sales goals."

CMS' commercial director Nick Preston said adding Buffalo to its list of vendors will be exciting for both its B2B and B2C resellers.
