Wave of water firm IT contracts flood channel

Thames Water and Welsh Water offer up separate deals worth upwards of £30m combined

Two water firms are on the hunt for IT firms to supply them with equipment worth more than £30m between them.

Thames Water and Dŵr Cymru (Welsh Water) both recently published tenders. The former is worth between £15m and £25m, and the latter's value is expected to range between £15m and £20m.

Thames Water is searching for a maximum of 24 resellers and vendors to provide it with various computer equipment, hardware, PCs and media storage devices over a five-year period. The firm said successful bidders will earn a place in its "IT hardware vendor pool", which includes two Lots – the first of which is for vendors and the second is aimed at resellers.

To be considered, vendors' turnover must top £500m a year, Thames Water stipulates, while that of resellers must pass the £200m barrier.

Dŵr Cyrmu is on the hunt for up to six IT suppliers to join its framework in order to provide it with software integration, cable installation and hardware over six years.
