Former ANS man joins UKFast
FlexPod expert Mark Walker joins to lead the firm's march into the public sector cloud space
Ambitious services firm UKFast has poached former ANS man Mark Walker to lead its move into the public sector cloud market.
Mark Walker (pictured) joins UKFast after stints as regional sales manager at VAR ANS Group and IT firm Proact. His appointment brings expertise in FlexPod to UKFast for the first time and will help the firm expand its eCloud portfolio using technology from Cisco, NetApp and VMWare.
Lawrence Jones, chief executive of UKFast, said: "The tremendous success of our eCloud range and our involvement in G-Cloud have meant UKFast has surpassed expectations and 2013 is set to be an incredibly good year.
"Now we have brought Mark in to add even more to our cloud portfolio – it is a really exciting time for UKFast. With this appointment we are able to offer the public sector the opportunity to move away from their traditional risky in-house datacentres into secure, resilient and modern facilities to experience how the internet should be."
Walker said in a statement: “I have worked in several technology companies in my time but have never experienced the culture and atmosphere like that of UKFast. It’s brilliant to be part of a technology firm that focuses on service as well as technology. The level of innovation here is extraordinary. It's truly inspiring. If you want something doing, these guys just create it.
“Providers often don’t realise that it is this service element that is more important than having big brand tech – with UKFast we have both and I am really excited to take this to the public sector.”
