Softcat attains Cisco Gold partner status

VAR claims two-year investment in training and resources shows how far it has progressed from being a licence shifter

Softcat claims its attainment of Cisco Gold partner status represents the fruition of a two-year programme of investment and training.

The Marlow-based VAR becomes the vendor's 36th top-level partner in the UK. Its coronation as a Gold reseller comes hot on the heels of its achievement of being awarded the vendor's Customer Satisfaction Excellence accreditation.

Doug Fawell, operations director at the Marlow-based VAR, claimed that Cisco has become one of his firm's most important manufacturer partners, with sales having grown strongly over the past five years.

"Rather than attaining Gold via the acquisition route, we have done it from the ground up through investment and training, and I believe this gives customers a greater level of assurance in our capabilities," he added. "We have invested a lot of time and resource across the company into putting the right processes in place to best service our Cisco customers."

Softcat managing director Colin Brown claimed the certification speaks to the VAR's evolution into an end-to-end technology provider.

"I think this really marks a departure from our beginnings as a licensing reseller; we are now perceived, rightly, as a comprehensive IT solution provider offering on-premise and cloud-based services," he explained. "Softcat offers a wide variety of vendors' solutions and our customers can be assured of our proficiency in IT solutions across the board."
