HP and AMD unite to help channel SMB laptop sales

Vendor duet to offer extended warranties and sales and marketing tools to help resellers shift ProBook devices

HP and AMD have teamed up to try and fuel channel laptop sales with an extended warranty scheme and a raft of sales and marketing tools for resellers.

The vendor twosome will be offering SMBs purchasing certain HP ProBook models an additional two-year warranty on top of the standard 12-month term usually offered. HP partners targeting the SMB market will also be provided with co-marketing materials, sales guides, demos and detailed product information on the AMD technology powering the devices. A dedicated call-centre team will also offer VARs technical sales support.

Models covered by the offer, which runs until the end of next month, include the ProBook 255 G1, 455 G1 and 6475b, all three of which run on chips from either AMD's A-Series or E-Series of APUs.

Grant Thomas, UK SBSO country manager at HP, said: "Our partners are looking for greater choice when selling to their customers. AMD's latest range of APUs allows our partners to differentiate themselves from their competitors."

James Blackman, UK channel manager for AMD, added: "AMD is entering into some exciting collaborations with our technology partners at the moment which is testament to the quality of the technology we have developed. Our engineers have worked hard to create a series of APUs with outstanding processor performance that deliver a richer experience to the end user."
