FireEye picks Pataky to expand global channel

Long-time Juniper Networks exec joins burgeoning security vendor ahead of IPO

FireEye, which focuses disruptive technology for thwarting cyberattacks and sophisticated malware, is gearing up for a bigger channel push, appointing a Juniper veteran to head worldwide channels and alliances.

Vice president of worldwide channels and alliances Steve Pataky will also continue the development of the recently launched Fuel Partner Programme.

His appointment comes as FireEye prepares for a stock market debut. Analysts say the security software vendor could fetch $225m in its initial public offering later this year.

"Steve's expertise in the design and day-to-day operation of partner programmes and recruitment strengthen our ability to expand the FireEye partner network," said FireEye chief exec David DeWalt.

Pataky has been steeped in channel knowledge and operational experience. Most recently, he served as vice president of channel development at Juniper Networks, where he built and launched the Partner Advantage Programme.

He has held channel and sales positions at several vendors, including 3Com, Vertical Networks and NetScreen.

FireEye is gaining the attention of the channel community with its partner program designed to incent sales and integration of its products as alternatives to traditional security technologies.

DeWalt (pictured, right), who was chief executive officer of McAfee until 2011, has a reputation for building fast growing companies by engaging the partner community.

The appointment of Pataky to head up FireEye's channel signals a commitment to using partner reach and resources to accelerate FireEye's growth.
