Microsoft bumps up prices again with Windows Server increase

This time the software giant ups the price of some Windows Server products from November

Microsoft is set to increase its prices on some of its Windows Server products by more than a quarter from November.

An update published by partner SBL this afternoon claimed that Windows Server Datacentre prices are set to rise approximately 28 per cent from November, while Remote Desktop Services CALs [Client Access Licences] for users and devices are to rocket about 20 per cent.

Just last week, resellers were notified of another flurry of price hikes across some Dynamics and Windows Server 2012 products – some by as much as 138 per cent.

SBL added on its post that prices of its CIS (Core Infrastructure Server) Datacentre product and the cost of upgrading from Windows Server Standard to the Datacentre offering will also increase in November. It did not quantify by exactly how much the prices would swell, but described it as a "significant amount" and said that all licensing programmes were affected for all the price hikes outlined.

Microsoft said in a statement: "We evaluate market conditions, increasing product value, customer deployment scenarios and other factors when determining pricing for our products.

"Microsoft is communicating pricing and licensing to our Service Provider Licensing Agreements (SPLA) partners... Service providers should contact their resellers for detailed pricing information."
