DataCore parts with sales boss after only months in job
Bjarne Poulsen only joined the storage vendor in February
Storage vendor DataCore has parted ways with a top regional director after only completing nine months in the job.
Bjarne Poulsen joined as regional director for the UK, Ireland, Nordics, Middle East and Africa in February, replacing long-serving sales boss Keith Joseph.
Upon his new appointment, Poulsen was hailed as a driver for DataCore's UK growth strategy, and he said he wanted to boost the number of customers the firm had in Europe.
DataCore confirmed his departure but gave no information on why he left, or on when a replacement would be lined up.
Sources wishing to remain anonymous suggested Datacore's numbers were not up to scratch under Poulsen's watch and that formed part of the reason he left the firm.
"The reason he went was because he made some promises and set some expectations to senior execs that he simply didn't deliver on, and based on that factor it was easy to pull the trigger and cut ties immediately at the end of the quarter," said one source.
"The technology that [DataCore has] is a class apart from anything else in the industry [but] business growth expectations need to be realistic and achievable – the world won't change overnight for them, something that perhaps they will realise on the back of this one."
DataCore confirmed that it and Poulsen had "decided to pursue different paths" but insisted the channel would not be affected by his departure.
"We have not changed our strategy with the channel and in fact we have added capabilities including inside sales people, new demand generation hires and new marketing initiatives," a spokesperson said in a statement.
"We truly believe that the time is right to capitalise on the software defined storage advantage and continue to do so."
