McAfee and CRN recently assembled a group of the UK's leading security VARs to discuss how the channel can help arm SMEs as the cyber-security threat moves downstream

Cybercriminals are rapidly switching their attention to targets outside their traditional large-enterprise stomping ground, with 75 per cent of data breaches last year targeted at SMBs.

How can the channel help arm these smaller firms doing battle on this new frontier of security?

This was the major topic of a recent CRN roundtable, commissioned by McAfee, on SME security. Participants - who included McAfee's European CTO Raj Samani and representatives from VARs Cisillion, Armadillo, Intellect, Sapphire, Imerja and Complete i.t. - agreed that SME owners are often burying the head in the sand and that more education is needed.
