Optimism in colour laser MFP market continues

Year-to-date figures show regional expansion of six per cent by volume

Colour laser MFPs are selling more strongly through Western Europe distribution this year, according to the latest figures from marketwatcher Context.

Zivile Brazdziunaite, imaging analyst at Context, said growth for the year-to-date has exceeded six per cent in unit terms across the region.

"Changes in office printing increased the demand for laser MFPs, favoured within enterprises and government institutions across Western Europe," said Brazdziunaite.

"While these devices offer more functionality, growth in digital workflow also meant more people are taking advantage of digital scanning, particularly scanning directly to the cloud, to share files with others more easily."

Canon, Oki and Ricoh each grew sales by 40 per cent through distribution, and Brother and Xerox expanded shipments 17 per cent. However, HP's volumes only increased one per cent, and Samsung's actually declined two per cent across the region, Brazdziunaite noted.

HP still retains the largest overall share of the colour laser MFP market, though, accounting for 37 per cent of sales, with Samsung in second place with 19 per cent of the market and Xerox in third, with 11 per cent.
