Julian Niman celebrates turning 60 twice
Distribution chief follows up fun day with second birthday celebration for 2013
One birthday a year is more than enough for most people - but not Nimans boss Julian Niman.
Last week saw Niman enjoy his second 60th birthday celebration for 2013, following up a family fun day back in June with a party closer to the real date on 11 October.
Giant balloons and a 20ft banner decorated the company's Manchester headquarters, and cakes were provided for the whole workforce. An impromptu party, inviting staff, family and friends, was held at a hotel.
The Nimans chairman was presented with a cake shaped like the company office and warehouse complex, a gold bar and a vintage computer to commemorate how he first started the business some 30 years ago, having first been inspired as a citizen-band radio enthusiast.
Some staff have been with him for almost the whole three decades.
To top it all off, the night before he received a lifetime achievement accolade at a media awards ceremony.
"Nimans is like one big family to me so what better way to celebrate than with the people I work with. We've come a long way together," Niman (pictured below, with the cake) said.
"As for the future, I'm really looking forward to launching a number of new initiatives to help staff further develop their careers."
