Specialist distributor Solid State wins Defence deal
Niche channel player seals specialist comms contract in hard-to-target market
Redditch components and industrial computing distributor Solid State has won a £1.8m deal with the Ministry of Defence, according to a stock market announcement.
The contract is for a range of communications equipment from the distributor's specialist ruggedised and industrial computing, components, and peripherals portfolio, to be delivered this financial year.
Gary Marsh, chief executive of Solid State, said: "It is very pleasing to be able to announce this significant contract for such a high-profile customer.
"This only goes to illustrate the resilience of our business in times where public sector capital expenditure budgets continue to be under pressure."
The AIM-listed company distributes kit from Microsemi, Digi, CML, GE and others.
Solid State has 140 staff and targets several verticals, including oil and gas, medical, security, and military sectors. It also makes special units for these niches on demand.
