LinuxIT teams up with Austrian peer on software
Open-source partners to expand push in the UK for DRBD installs
UK open-source software specialist LinuxIT has inked a strategic agreement with Austria-based Linbit.
Under the terms of the deal, LinuxIT will offer Linbit DRBD installation and implementation and ongoing platform management to UK customers, the company said.
Simon Mitchell, executive director at LinuxIT (pictured), said: "Linbit's Distributed Replicated Block Device (DRBD) [software] repeatedly beats the competition hands down in RoI and TCO analyses.
"When companies are reducing certain costs by up to 90 per cent using open-source software, we simply have to be part of the story."
Peter Lemken, head of sales at Linbit, said LinuxIT was chosen partly for its experience in handling tricky customer requirements.
"This will show the benefits of open-source technologies to one of Europe's most thriving markets," he said.
Linbit is a large Red Hat reseller in Austria, as well as offering its own software.
