G-Cloud sales up even more in October

More than half of the sales are still going to SMBs, says Cabinet Office

October sales on the G-Cloud framework rose to £63.5m – £10m more than in September, and the best month ever for the burgeoning procurement initiative.

The Cabinet Office has revealed that the month ending 31 October saw 70 per cent of total G-Cloud sales reached through central government deals, and 30 per cent were in the rest of the public sector.

"Fifty-six per cent of [the] total sales by value and 61 per cent by volume have been awarded to SMEs," according to a new Cabinet Office statement on G-Cloud.

"With sales growing positively and G-Cloud 4 offering even more services, we're hoping to see this continue to go up as we head towards the new year."

G-Cloud 4 went live on 29 October and is tipped to enhance even more opportunities for SMBs.

In September, sales via the G-Cloud CloudStore passed £53.5m, with 58 per cent of the total spend going to SMB suppliers.

Currently, 1,000 prospective IT suppliers are listed on the G-Cloud framework.

However, the Cabinet Office is still keen to receive feedback on the framework and its development, it added.
