Dimension Data in NextiraOne acquisition bid
European Commission reveals Didata has tabled deal to buy NextiraOne's operations across Europe
Dimension Data has made a bid to acquire fellow Cisco Gold partner NextiraOne, the European Commission has revealed.
Created in Europe in 2002 through the acquisition of Alcatel's multi-vendor enterprise service and distribution business, NextiraOne boasts presence in 15 European countries and hit revenues of €1bn in 2009.
Although neither firm has officially commented, news of the deal broke last Thursday when a low-key EC notice revealed the two parties intend to come together.
"Dimension Data intends to acquire the entire equity capital of NextiraOne's legal entities which are active in the provision of IT services to customers in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain and the United Kingdom," it said.
Didata was acquired by Japanese telco NTT in 2010 for £2.1bn.
NextiraOne, which has 4,500 staff in Europe, counts Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Genesys and Microsoft among its main vendor partners.
Update
NextiraOne has since confirmed the deal on its website, adding that it will be performed in two stages, the first involving the countries mentioned above and a second tranche - which is subject to the achievement of certain performance targets - including its French and Italian businesses.
"This transaction offers an exciting opportunity for NextiraOne's customers, employees and partners. The combined business will have a broader geographic reach, enhance our pool of skilled employees, and extend our range of new solutions and services," it said.
The two organisations expect that transaction to be completed in early 2014.
