Westcon hands over CEO reins to former Dell man Westerbos

Incoming chief executive to take over from Dean Douglas in the new year

Former Dell channel leader Dolph Westerbos is set to take over the reins at Westcon next year as the distributor waves off current boss Dean Douglas.

Westerbos will join the company at the start of January next year but will take over officially as chief executive from the end of the month after he and departing Douglas complete a handover period.

The incoming boss joins from logistics and pallet-supply company Brambles where he led its EMEA business following a four-year stint at Dell where he held a number of senior roles including EMEA channel director.

Departing leader Douglas joined the company in 2008 but will leave next month to take on a new role, although the distie did not reveal where he is heading.

Jens Montanana, Westcon owner Datatec's chief executive, said Westerbos was picked because of his impressive track record.

"His experience in global supply chain operations coupled with technology-based services, and his focus on operational efficiency and international commerce will be invaluable," he said, before adding his thanks to Douglas ahead of his departure.

"I would like to thank Dean for his significant achievements in globalising Westcon over the past five years," he said. "We wish him well in his next role."
