Zoostorm poised to capitalise on RM opportunity

System builder insists it is only channel-facing UK-based manufacturer left

Zoostorm, the PC brand of VIP Group, is confident of a surge in business following RM’s hardware referral partnership with Misco.

Alicia Shepherd (pictured), head of B2B at Zoostorm, said there were no other channel-friendly firms left to fill RM’s void, including Stone Group, which yesterday outlined its plans to lure RM customers with a trade-in scheme and other offers.

“For Zoostorm we are in the top five desktop manufacturers [according to Context figures] and are growing as a recognised brand. We are channel friendly and don’t sell direct, unlike Stone,” she said.

“Overall we have 5.2 per cent desktop market share, and when you compare that with Acer’s 5.3 per cent, Fujitsu’s 2.6 per cent and Stone’s 3.5 per cent, you can see where we sit,” she added.

The firm’s products are manufactured in the UK, at its 100,000 square foot site in Warrington, she explained, and it is gunning for growth.

“We are the fastest-growing desktop brand in the UK and don’t sell to end users,” she added. “We are best placed to support the channel in the opening that has been left by RM.”

As revealed by CRN, Misco is set to continue the popular RM One brand and when asked, Shepherd said Zoostorm would be keen to fulfil that particular contract on its behalf.

“Misco is a key partner of Zoostorm and we would welcome the opportunity to work with it on the RM One,” she said.
