Trustmarque grabs Opin Systems
Growing York-based VAR adds a second Scottish office to its stable
Ambitious VAR Trustmarque Solutions has strengthened its position in Scotland with the acquisition of Glasgow-based consultancy Opin.
The firm, which was acquired for an undisclosed sum, has been in business since 1990 and supplies IT consultancy services to organisations such as the UN, the Department for International Development, the Scottish Prison Service and the Student Loans Company.
Graham Curran, founder and managing director of Opin, will join Trustmarque along with his team, to continue leading the Opin division.
In a statement, Curran said: "I have worked with my team for over 20 years, building a strong reputation, delivering key technology projects to some major customers.
"Working as a partner with Trustmarque I realised that they were the right organisation to deliver further value to Opin's customers, while giving the Opin team an opportunity to bring our skills and expertise into Trustmarque's offering. It's a great fit."
The deal adds a fourth office to Trustmarque's stable, which already has premises in York, the City of London and Edinburgh. The firm was the subject of a management buyout earlier this year.
Scott Haddow, chief executive of Trustmarque, said: "We are delighted to welcome Opin as a part of the Trustmarque team. We have first-hand experience of working with Opin and were in no doubt that there is a big opportunity here.
"Opin has a superb reputation in Scotland, but they have long-term customers throughout the UK. I know that with Trustmarque's scale, capabilities and resources, they can build on their successes so far.
"The combined business will be good news for both sets of customers."
Haddow said private equity house Dunedin was supportive of the acquisition, which was a key part of the company achieving its ambitious growth plans.
