Devonshire distributor Sigma scores Intel first
Ashburton-based distributor adds Intel Software to portfolio
Sigma Software Distribution has signed one of its first household brands in the form of Intel, after agreeing a partnership to carry the chip giant's software tools across EMEA.
The Devon-based outfit has been appointed as the first non-US distributor for Intel Software, whose products are designed to help developers create and optimise applications that run faster on Intel architectures.
Sigma general manager Jane Silk said the partnership represents an important step in the distributor's EMEA expansion plans.
"As a brand, Intel is exceptionally well known but its software division falls into what Sigma does, which is tier-two and tier-three, specialist software," she said.
Sigma now has staff stationed in EMEA and plans to continue its expansion on the back of the deal with Intel, which will see it carry Intel software tools including Parallel Studio XE and Intel C++ Studio XE.
The distributor, which is a division of software VAR Grey Matter, said its reseller partners can use the software to help their customers create applications that realise the maximum potential of their CPUs.
"This applies to a vast array of end user applications and market verticals for example rendering the special effects in Blockbuster films to extracting the longest possible battery life from an application running on a mobile device," Silk illustrated.
