Fujitsu announces new year Northern Irish jobs bonanza
Vendor to welcome in 192 new recruits following £12m investment in the region
Fujitsu is set to kick off 2014 by recruiting for some 192 newly created roles in Northern Ireland, following a £12m investment in the region.
Of the new roles – which will all be created next month – 177 will be full-time positions, with the remaining 15 set to be business apprenticeships. The jobs will span the vendor's business and will include roles in admin, finance and human resources as well as technical and software-based ones.
The new recruits will be based in Fujitsu's new Business Services Centre in Timber Quay, Derry and will bring the total number of staff in Northern Ireland to more than 1,000.
Fujitsu's recruitment plans form part of its £12m investment in Northern Ireland, nearly £1m of which came from the European Union-backed Invest Northern Ireland fund.
The vendor claims its recent cash injection takes its total spend in the region to £36m over the past seven years alone.
Fujitsu's client managing director for Northern Ireland Greg McDaid said the recent round of investment is good for both the region and his business.
"[The new] Business Services Centre will now form an important part of our overall strategy to achieve business growth in this region and the choice of Timber Quay is a reflection on the highly skilled and motivated workforce as well as the excellent telecommunications infrastructure that we know exist here," he said.
"These qualities, coupled with the support offered by Invest Northern Ireland, made this the obvious choice when we considered potential locations for this investment."
