Bunyard has high hopes for CCD Reunited
Former CCD bigwig hopes to recreate social impact of distributor which was swallowed by Ingram Micro in 2009
Distribution veteran Jon Bunyard has launched a social website aimed at recreating the social buzz of the former Computacenter Distribution (CCD) community.
Called CCDReunited, the site will act as a forum for all former CCD stakeholders (staff, partners, associates etc) to interact and discuss important issues, as well as arrange meetings and informal get-togethers.
CCD was gobbled by distribution giant Ingram Micro in November 2009 and Bunyard oversaw the integration of the business into Ingram, latterly heading up the firm's HP Enterprise, Servers, Storage and Networking division. He left the firm last May as part of a management reshuffle.
Speaking to CRN, Bunyard said: "Resellers have always talked to other resellers at social events, and at the moment there seems to be a lot of events for people to go to, but little hardcore partnering going on.
"There are a lot of fond memories of the old CCD days and how it operated socially, so I am looking to get that atmosphere back, where people can reach out to each other and help each other or arrange off the cuff meetings. And also have some fun."
The site was launched informally over Christmas, with more than 30 members so far, and is launching to the wider channel community next week.
"I am not aiming for a set number of members," added Bunyard. "It is open to all former CCD stakeholders, and anyone who wants to chat over issues affecting the industry."
