M2 Digital buyout is 'first of many', SCC chief vows

UK's biggest private VAR confirms deal for £30m print services player

The boss of reseller giant SCC has pledged that its acquisition of managed print player M2 Digital will be "the first of many", as it seeks to grow its services business.

As predicted by CRN earlier this month, the UK's biggest privately owned VAR has announced it has closed the buyout of the Mancunian firm for an undisclosed sum. A statement issued today reveals the £30m-turnover business will join its new owner's existing print services operation, but will remain an independent division.

M2 brings with it 180 staff across four UK offices in Stretford, London, Wakefield and Glasgow. SCC chief executive James Rigby reiterated his firm's desire to pursue further additions of services-centric players.

"With ample capital resources available and revenues increasing across the business, it is no secret that we are proactively seeking service-led acquisitions to supplement the company's existing capabilities. I am delighted to announce the completion of the M2 deal, which I anticipate will be the first of many as SCC continues its strategic evolution," he said.

M2 chief executive John Taylor claimed the backing of SCC would allow his firm to pursue aggressive growth, and ultimately achieve its aim of becoming the continent's largest managed print services (MPS) provider.

"We are delighted to be joining such a leading technology business," he said. "SCC represents a fantastic opportunity for M2 to achieve its next level of ambitious growth, with a business owner that understands the technology market and has the vision to see us become Europe's largest MPS business."
