Tech Data shuffles management
New year, new roles as Andy Gass steps back into the UK and Ireland managing director position and Peter Hubbard takes the reins at Tech Data Mobile
It's all go on the Tech Data management merry-go-round as Andy Gass takes over as managing director UK and Ireland for the second time after two years in a European role.
Gass handed the MD mantle in January 2012 to former Tech Data sales director Peter Hubbard, who joined the firm in June 2011 after a decade at Dell.
In his 'new-old' role, Gass will still report to European boss Nestor Cano and will continue to be a member of Tech Data's European executive board.
Hubbard has been given the new role of MD of Tech Data Mobile, formerly Brightstar, replacing Stephen Nolan who returns to his former role responsible for European mobile vendor relations.
In a statement, Gass said: "I am pleased to be leading our operations in the UK and Ireland at this important time for the business. It is vital that we draw on the experience and expertise we have within our organisation to ensure that all parts of our business maintain their progression and growth.
"Peter Hubbard's appointment as managing director, Tech Data Mobile UK and Ireland, will help ensure that we have strong leadership in place for this important and strategic business. I would like to thank Peter for his leadership of our UK and Ireland business during the past two years."
Hubbard added: "I am excited by the new challenge that Tech Data Mobile brings for me. This is a very key business for Tech Data. My focus will be on capitalising on our opportunities in this high-growth area.
"I would like to thank Stephen Nolan for his excellent work in leading Tech Data Mobile UK and Ireland through an important period in its development and wish him the best as he returns to his European role."
