Labour Party dials up TSG for new phone system

New Mitel system designed to enhance productivity of calls with electorate ahead of 2015 general election

TSG has bagged a deal to supply the Labour Party with a voice over IP system across its 12 UK offices as the next general election approaches.

After winning the contract following a competitive tender process, the Geordie VAR is installing a Mitel system across the party's two head offices in Newcastle and London as well as its 10 additional regional and national sites.

Mark Joynson, TSG's North East managing director, said: "To be recognised as the Labour Party's telecoms provider is a huge accolade considering the critical importance of speaking to the electorate prior to the general election."

Graham Stafford, head of procurement at the Labour Party, said the party's workforce expands and contracts rapidly depending on where it is in the electoral cycle.

"We currently have 28 operatives using the phone systems and this can to increase to 80 when we get close to the 2015 general election, so we can't afford any reduction in call quality," he said.

"TSG were very thorough throughout the tender process. We had a lot of questions about the functionality of the system and TSG always managed to come back with the solutions that matched all our requirements."

Tammi Woodward, IT manager for the Labour Party (pictured, with Joynson), said the new VoIP system offers new features allowing close analysis of calls and agents' performance.

"This will enhance the productivity of calls with our electorate which should reflect positively on membership and voter engagement," she said.
