Tech Data bags former Ingram Micro man Vandenbussche
Executive who was shuffled out of Ingram Micro last autumn delighted to be joining Europe's 'leading' distributor
Using words that may or may not have been aimed partly at former employer Ingram Micro, Johnan Vandenbussche has expressed his delight at joining "Europe's leading technology distributor" Tech Data.
Five months after exiting Ingram Micro amid a management restructure, Vandenbussche has joined arch rival Tech Data as senior vice president of operations for Europe.
In his new role, Vandenbussche will have overall responsibility for HR, logistics, IT co-ordination and its internal consulting team. He will report to European president Néstor Cano.
Vandenbussche (pictured) was a senior executive at Ingram for 15 years, most recently holding the post of vice president of UK and Benelux, but had only glowing things to say about his new employer, which – despite being smaller than Ingram globally – has higher sales in Europe.
"I'm very happy to join Europe's leading technology distributor," said Vandenbussche. "I am impressed by Tech Data's Collection of Specialists strategy, which has enabled the creation of a unique ‘one-stop shop' model for the company's extensive product portfolio, while ensuring that customers are supported by highly knowledgeable specialists."
Cano followed suit by saying he was "delighted" at Vandenbussche's arrival.
"With his proven ability, experience and deep knowledge of the distribution business, I am confident that he will make a major contribution as we continue to execute on our priorities of effective country execution, enhanced productivity and providing the best customer experience in the industry, all with integrity," Cano added.
