Firm awarded sole distribution status for Huawei's latest YouView+ box

Exertis Micro-P has secured sole distribution rights to Huawei's new set-top box as the vendor pushes further into the home entertainment sector.

The agreement builds on the two firms' existing relationship in the server, storage and networking space.

Huawei's DN37 IT box includes a 500GB video recorder, which can record up to 300 hours of standard and 125 hours of HD programmes. There is also an option for customers to upgrade and receive additional content from BT or TalkTalk.

Mark Mitchinson, executive vice president of Huawei UK and Ireland, said: "Huawei's technology continues to be at the centre of the developments in British television viewing. For the distribution of this latest device, we wanted to work with a company that has strong market experience and we are thrilled to have Exertis Micro-P on board to realise its full potential and market demand."

Caroline Hope, consumer electronics general manager, added: "This is an extremely exciting opportunity for the Consumer Division within Exertis Micro-P. With the strength of a brand like Huawei, partnering with our strength in pulling together a truly connected home experience, we are looking forward to bringing this proposition to the retail market."
