Cisco resellers investigated for corrupt Russian activities
Vendor insists proceedings will not affect financial performance
Cisco has launched an investigation into potentially corrupt actions of its resellers and some of its own staff in Russia at the request of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
According to a recent SEC filing, Cisco said it is investigating allegations that it and certain resellers possibly violated the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in Russia and other Commonwealth of Independence States.
"We take any such allegations very seriously and are fully co-operating with and sharing the results of our investigation with the commission," the vendor said.
It added that while the outcome of the investigation is still unknown, it does not expect it to have a significant impact on its financial position or cashflows, claiming that the countries implicated comprise less than two per cent of its revenue.
