IT's a dog's life for Centerprise

Firm raises thousands of pounds to support special dog charity - Hounds for Heroes

Centerprise received some special four-legged visitors recently to thank them for their efforts in raising money for a canine charity that supports injured service personnel.

Hounds for Heroes provides specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled men and women of the UK armed forces and the civilian emergency services.

It was the brainchild of Gulf war veteran Allen Parton (pictured centre), who suffered a serious head injury in aftermath of Operation Desert Storm.

Centerprise raised £5,000 for the charity through a series of activities including a race night at Basingstoke Rugby Club, members of staff running the Reading half marathon, raffles and even pumpkin-carving competitions.

The charity now has 22 dogs – known as cadets – in various stages of training and the money raised by Centerprise will fund the purchase price of a dog and its training for at least two years.

Parton said: "I'm very grateful to Centerprise for its support. Just knowing that people care makes all the difference.

“It’s great to be able to go along and meet the people who give Hounds for Heroes their support – it means everything to us.”

Centerprise chairman Rafi Razzak, who donated £1,000 of his own money to the cause, added: “Allen’s story is very moving and I was pleased to be able to help this worthwhile charity. I’m very proud that so many employees have supported Hounds for Heroes.”
