Avnet calls channel for charity six-a-side

Matches at Ricoh Arena give staffers a chance to make like real champions of football

Avnet has issued a challenge to all channel companies to compete in a glamorous IT-industry football tournament in Coventry on 9 May.

According to the invitation issued by event sponsor Avnet to all its business partners today, teams of 10 will get the chance to battle it out in a six-a-side version of the beautiful game. The World Cup-style tournament will take place at Ricoh Arena (pictured, left).

"Play inside a 32,609-seat football stadium - bring up to 10 guests. Trophy presentation for winners and runners-up. There will be a champagne spray for winners, and a half-page in the programme containing your team line-up and an advertisement. You will also be able to learn football freestyle tricks from a professional," it said.

Each team will play at least four games, in special team kit in the colours of a particular country and branded with their company name and logo.

The winning team will take home a replica Jules Rimet trophy and will be invited to play in another tournament on 25 May, against five other teams at the Emirates Stadium in London - home of Arsenal FC (pictured, right).

Reserve your place before 21 April, and receive an early bird discount of £2,500, plus VAT.

The cost for teams booked after 21 April 2014 goes up to £3,333, plus VAT.

Funds go to support four youth-focused charities: the Prince's Trust, Teens Unite, Amber, and Children in Need.

The tournament will also benefit from FA-qualified referees, paramedic attendance, refreshments available all day to teams and guests, entry to the casino post-event, and reduced rates for the on-site hotel.
