Ingram unleashes global cloud
Distribution giant expands Ingram Micro Cloud into a worldwide services organisation with dedicated management
Ingram Micro has announced its intentions to expand the Ingram Micro Cloud into a global services organisation as it capitalises on the growing adoption of cloud technology.
Set to be led by executive vice president of global cloud computing Nimesh Dave, Ingram Micro Cloud will operate in about 170 countries, and will specialise locally and scale globally according to demand.
Originally launched in North America, the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace is aimed at helping channel partners and IT professionals educate themselves, browse, buy, deploy and manage a suite of cloud services directly from the distributor.
Dave said: "Ingram Micro's proven expertise, experience and ability to execute as a master cloud services aggregator has accelerated our success and positioned us as one of the top 100 cloud providers.
"Ingram Micro's recent acquisition of SoftCom and adoption of a best-in-class automation platform also serve as significant growth catalysts that will further enable us to scale our cloud services success globally."
As part of the expansion, Turker Sokullu, president and founder of Softcom, will now also serve as vice president of cloud platform and product design, and Renee Bergeron, vice president of cloud computing, has expanded her role to include global sales and marketing.
Dave added: "The global opportunity around cloud services continues to grow rapidly as businesses and consumers move to anywhere, anytime secure computing. As a global organisation, Ingram Micro Cloud is strategically aligned with the future of technology, as well as to channel partners and IT professionals that want to simplify, scale and successfully sell cloud services."
The distributor is set to reveal more information at its Global Cloud Summit next week in Florida. Stay tuned to ChannelWeb for more details.
