CompTIA 'opens vault' with free entry-level tier

Industry body also brings 'greater exclusivity' to higher-level members

CompTIA is opening its doors wider to the channel with the introduction of a new free-of-charge entry-level tier allowing firms to access various training and research resources.

The new registered user option will allow individuals to sign up with the industry body at no cost and make immediate use of some of its material.

Also being introduced is an enlarged membership tier called "premier member", which is open only to VARs, distributors, vendors, and other "companies serving the IT channel". Premier member status – which is to be afforded to all existing CompTIA members – will allow users priority access to all the association's research and education resources, as well as "exclusive business tools".

Also being given a lick of paint is CompTIA's website, a new mobile-friendly update of which will be launched in June. The body claims the new-look site will allow users to find what they are looking for more easily, and help members better connect with their peers.

CompTIA chief executive Todd Thibodeaux said: "The IT industry is changing rapidly, and channel partners, as well as IT professionals, business owners and consumers, are eager for real-world insights and resources that will help them make more informed decisions and offer guidance on the future of IT.

"CompTIA is uniquely positioned to be that voice and resource, which is why we're opening up the vault to registered users and introducing greater exclusivity and value for our members."
