Ingram's VTN UK gets off to a flying start

Distributor's VentureTech Network snares 13 partners at launch event, with more waiting in the wings

Ingram Micro is hailing the UK launch of its VentureTech Network (VTN) a success after 13 partners signed up at the first event and a further three others pledged to join imminently.

The distribution giant announced it was launching the scheme in the UK last month, with its first chapter meeting held earlier this month. The aim of the group is to promote collaboration, discuss best practice and encourage networking among members and tighten Ingram's community of partners.

It has named its UK chapter Apollo, following a vote at the inaugural meeting.

Mark Davies, sales and marketing director of new member Cobweb Solutions, praised the scheme.

“I was delighted to be invited along to the inaugural UK VTN event and was pleasantly surprised at the openness and engagement with all attendees," he said. "There was a real sense of community and I’m already working on mutual business opportunities from the day, so I’m very positive.

“The commitment from the whole team at Ingram Micro was evident and their positive influence helped drive the mood amongst the attendees. Also, using Ingram Micro’s relationships with larger vendors should give VTN partners the opportunity to leverage more support than they would traditionally manage by themselves.”

Mark Williams, director at Wavex Technology and president of Apollo said: “VTN really is what the channel has been looking for - a focused group of business owners and senior executives sharing ideas and opportunities to grow their organisations. The level of engagement and honesty was refreshing and is exactly what the community stands for.

“I am excited for our next session where we will focus on the specifics around inhibitors and enablers of growth in our complex market. Thank you to everyone, we have lift off.”

The Group is due to meet next in May.
