SCC beats rivals to duo of deals

Integrator snags IT services contract with National Trust and cloud hosting deal with Highways Agency

SCC is in buoyant mood after bagging two deals – with the National Trust and Highways Agency – in quick succession.

The integrator has counted the National Trust as a customer for 10 years and has now snagged a five-year deal to provide IT services and support across the conservation charity's 360 properties.

Under the deal, which followed a competitive bid process, SCC is opening a fully branded National Trust Service Desk at its service centre in Birmingham, from where its staff will provide support seven days a week.

The service desk will be supported by a newly formed team of 30 "National Trust Champion Engineers" who will don dual-branded uniform when providing front-line services.

"We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with SCC but this is far more than simply a contract extension – it is a considerable step up for SCC which will redefine how closely the two organisations work together," said National Trust chief information officer Sarah Flannigan.

SCC chief executive James Rigby (pictured) said: "To mark the opening of the National Trust Service Desk, we are planting an oak tree which is part of the charity's logo at our UK headquarters in Birmingham to underline the commitment to our partnership and our collaborative working."

Meanwhile, SCC has also signed a two-year contract to provide the Highways Agency with cloud hosting services.

The project, awarded via G-Cloud, will see SCC migrate about 300 Highways Agency servers into its cloud environment and host the agency's back-office infrastructure, supporting almost 4,000 users.
