SCC wins big as £30m-plus in utilities contracts awarded

Softcat, Bechtle, Fujitsu and SHI also among the winners as Unitied Utilities and Thames Water sign off frameworks

SCC is the channel's big winner in the utilities space this week, with the corporate reseller enjoying success in a brace of big-ticket public sector deals.

The Birmingham-headquartered integrator beat off competition from three other bidders to be picked as the sole provider for a seven-year print and services deal with United Utilities Water. The contract notice – which was initially issued more than two years ago – estimates the worth of the contract as up to £7m, excluding VAT.

The notice reveals that SCC will be expected to supply the water company with a vast array of mono and colour printers, copiers, and MFDs from a variety of vendors. The channel giant will also be tasked with optimising both new and incumbent printers, and providing ongoing support and maintenance, as well as offering "page-volume reduction consulting services" and "project planning for transition to a managed print service".

SCC is also among the winners on a five-year IT hardware and break-fix services deal awarded by Thames Water. The utilities firm issued a tender last year looking to appoint firms in two lots – one for vendors and one for resellers – to form its "IT hardware vendor pool" for the next half-decade.

All seven firms who bid for the reseller lot have been awarded a spot on the framework, with the other winners being Softcat, Bechtle, SHI International, Wipro, Unisys, and Fujitsu. The contract notice pegs the total worth of the deal including the vendor lot as between £15m and £25m. Suppliers will be providing Thames Water with kit including PCs, servers, networking, storage, and peripherals.
