Westcon snaps up Datatec stablemate Intact

Distributor acquires UK Cisco support outfit for undisclosed sum

Westcon is bolstering its partner services business by acquiring fellow Datatec-owned firm Intact Integrated Services.

Founded in 2004, UK-based Cisco support services provider Intact was made an independent subsidiary of IT group Datatec in 2009 to give it a "stronger platform for growth". It was previously part of Logicalis, Datatec's integrator unit.

But now the Bracknell- based firm, which offers white-label and support services to VARs, Sis, OEMs and telcos, is being snapped up by Datatec-owned distributor Westcon.

Westcon said acquiring the firm outright would bolster its partner-led services offering.

"As a leader in channel services, Intact will become strong foundation in our Services Practice, helping partners generate new revenue streams via value-added services," said Westcon Group chief executive Dolph Westerbos.

According to Westcon, Intact boasts skills in areas such as security, unified communications, collaboration, datacentre and cloud.

The duo are keeping stum on financial terms of the acquisition and the transaction is set to close next month.
