Bytes flogs Xerox arm to rival Xeretec

Xeretec claims union creates western Europe's largest Xerox reseller

Xeretec has got more than halfway to its goal of creating a £100m Xerox reseller by 2019 after snapping up rival Bytes Document Solutions (BDS).

The acquisition boosts managed print specialist Xeretec's turnover to £57m, which it claims makes it Xerox's largest reseller in Europe. The enlarged firm boasts 220 staff and 11 offices.

Founded in 1991, Xeretec already had a turnover of £30m.

"Acquiring Bytes Document Solutions is a significant move, helping to accelerate the pace at which Xeretec will achieve its goal of becoming a £100m turnover organisation by 1 September 2019," said Xeretec managing director Steve Hawkins.

"It has significant advantages for our customers, staff and of course Xerox, all of whom are set to enjoy the many benefits that will come from this best-of-breed approach."

Neil Murphy, group managing director of BDS parent company Bytes, said divesting BDS would allow it to focus on its core software and software services business, which works with vendors such as Microsoft, Check Point, Symantec, VMware, Citrix and Oracle.

"Importantly, we will work in close partnership with Xeretec moving forward to ensure customer satisfaction is our number one priority," he said.
