Xirrus recruits channel boss and adds Westcon to distie line-up

Wireless firm boosts channel credentials with double announcement

Wireless vendor Xirrus has boosted its partner proposition by recruiting a new channel chief and appointing Westcon as a European distributor.

The California-based manufacturer has brought in former Aruba, Nortel, and Avaya exec Don Scott as international channel director. He is charged with developing and growing the firm's partner programme outside its homeland.

Scott, who describes himself as "an American national who has had the good fortune to live and work in the UK for over 14 years" in his LinkedIn profile, claimed that "partners love Xirrus for three key reasons".

"First, the combination of ultra-high performance, cloud provision and management, and a seamless software-based migration to AC, is absolutely unique in the market," he explained. "Second, Xirrus' reliability, ease of use and rapid deployment capabilities make our partners' customer relationships successful and profitable. Third, Xirrus' partner programme further establishes Xirrus as the best partner for WLAN solutions."

Among the partners Scott will be working with is Westcon, which was today handed rights to distribute the vendor's wireless arrays, access points, and cloud services across Europe. Xirrus chief executive Shane Buckley claimed his firm's wares will be a good fit for the distie's linecard.

"Westcon Group is recognised worldwide for its networking and security expertise and, with its complementary portfolio, is the distributor that we were seeking to push high-performance wireless networks to the next level."

Willem de Haan, EMEA senior vice president at Westcon Group Security Division, added: "For resellers, high-density deployments are the new market opportunity as organisations seek to provide a wealth of online services to their customers. At Westcon, we know how challenging it can be to meet wireless connectivity demands as volume of users ebbs and flows. We have chosen Xirrus as we believe it's the perfect solution to match scalability and performance."
