Addnode sees Symetri in acquisition strategy

Autodesk Gold partner is acquired to create vendor's largest VAR in northern Europe

Consolidation is alive and well in the Autodesk CAD space, with the second acquisition in the vendor's partner ecosystem taking place in a week.

Addnode Group has completed the acquisition of UK-based Symetri from Airbus Defence and Space for an undisclosed sum.

The move will create Autodesk’s largest channel partner in Northern Europe, and pave the way for the creation of a new centre of manufacturing CAD excellence.

Symetri will work closely with Addnode’s other CAD division – Cad-Q – which is Scandinavia and Finland’s top design, engineering, production and advanced construction VAR, sharing best practice and adding more value to their combined customer base.

Colin Watson, director of Symetri, welcomed the deal: “The integration of Symetri into Addnode Group’s international organisation provides enhanced opportunities for customers and the business itself.

“Existing Symetri customers benefit from a broader knowledge of manufacturing CAD, plus expertise in related areas such as data management, simulation, PLM and complementary proprietary software applications. The acquisition also provides continuity for our customers, with existing account managers remaining in place. Indeed, looking forward the emphasis will be on ‘business as usual’.”

Earlier in the week, CAD specialist Graitec snapped up Autodesk partner MicroCAD for an undisclosed sum, creating a £17m CAD powerhouse in the UK.
