TSG grabs training accolade

Reseller praised for putting hundreds of staff through training schemes

Reseller TSG has been recognised for its investment in staff training after putting hundreds of staff on courses in its last financial year.

The firm was awarded the Excellence in Developing People accolade by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development at its North East Awards ceremony.

The company - which beat off competition for the award from fellow nominees Tesco and IHC Engineering - was praised for its extensive training scheme over its last fiscal year. Over the 12 months, it managed to put more than 300 of its 450-strong team on 112 technical courses.

The training consisted of both technical courses and those focusing on managerial skills, the firm said.

Its chief executive David Stonehouse said training is vital for his company's development.

"It is key that TSG's technical specialists and engineers are as knowledgeable as possible," he said.

"This award is great news for the group and shows just how much effort we put into ensuring we deliver the most professional experience possible for our customers."

TSG's director of human resources Ayshea Robertson said the company does not stop at training courses to get staff skilled up.

"Other innovations include a comprehensive soft-skills training programme and management resource area on our intranet because we wholeheartedly believe that talented people delivering exceptional customer service are key to differentiating ourselves from our competitors," she said.

"Delivering end-to-end IT solutions requires expertise and technical skills across a broad range of technologies which is why we've invested in this area, including the introduction of a dedicated technical trainer."
