Intrinsic appoints fourth boss in three years as Antill exits

Cisco Gold partner names Mark Bates as interim CEO as Darron Antill prepares to depart for 'personal reasons'

Cisco and Avaya partner Intrinsic has appointed its fourth chief executive in three years after confirming former boss Darron Antill has left the company.

Antill joined Intrinsic last September but stepped down yesterday due to "personal reasons". He has been replaced by interim boss Mark Bates who, like Antill, used to work at Vistorm and Appsense.

The outgoing boss will continue to work closely with the board over the coming weeks to ensure an effective transition, the company said in a statement sent to CRN.

Antill (pictured) took over the Haydock-headquartered firm from Adam Jarvis, who returned to his role as sales and commercial director before eventually leaving the company. Prior to Jarvis' stint at the top, Mike Mason was the firm's chief executive until January 2012, making Bates the firm's fourth boss in three years.

When Antill took over the reins at Intrinsic last year, he drafted in three former Vistorm colleagues in a bid to revamp the business and help it become the leading UK hybrid IT managed service provider.

Intrinsic, which is backed by private-equity outfit RJD Partners, turned over £36.4m in 2012 and back in February, Antill told CRN the company's managed services sales were on the up. As well as being a Cisco Gold and Avaya Connect partner, the VAR works with Citrix, NetApp VMware and Microsoft.

Antill was not available to comment, but in a statement, Intrinsic said his work at the business has been crucial.

"Intrinsic would like to thank Darron for his work with the company's board and investors to build a clear business plan, setting Intrinsic up for future success and growth," it said.
