Driscoll heads for Azlan exit doors - sources

Former SDG and CCD man on the move again, according to channel chatter

The man in charge of Azlan's £300m UK HP business, Lee Driscoll, is heading for the exit doors, CRN understands.

Driscoll (pictured) joined Azlan in 2012 via its acquisition of SDG and was appointed as business unit director, HP enterprise and software solutions, a role which saw him manage 75 staff across its Birmingham and Basingstoke offices.

Driscoll was previously sales director of SDG's HP arm, ETC, and before that was one of the founding directors of Computacenter Distribution.

Although Tech Data could not be reached for comment, multiple sources have told us that Driscoll is leaving the business. His next move is unknown to us.

Onlookers remarked that Driscoll's departure is just the latest in a series of personnel moves at Azlan in the wake of the integration of SDG last year.

Pre-merger, Azlan was the market leader in HP Networking gear and the SDG purchase bolstered its prowess on HP servers and storage. Driscoll was one of four directors Azlan inhereted through the acquisition. But insiders recently claimed the merger has not been straightforward, pointing to a power struggle between staff in Basingstoke and the new office in Birmingham.

"There's definitely some restructuring going on," one source noted.
