Imago buys rival German distributor Vitec

Mainz videoconferencing added to network of European subsidiaries

Video communications distributor Imago Group has added German videoconferencing rival Vitec to its portfolio.

According to Ian Vickerage, managing director of UK-headquartered Imago, Mainz-based Vitec is a leading Polycom partner in Germany.

"Video communications is an international business and our customers and end users need support on an international basis," he said.

He did not elaborate on the terms of the deal or indicate the price.

"The opportunity to acquire the largest VC distributor in one of Europe's largest territories is one we are delighted to take. It is also great news that Dr Wilhelm Mettner will be returning as CEO to the company he founded and ran very successfully for many years," Vickerage (pictured) added.

Imago already has offices in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain. Vitec will therefore be launched as its fifth European subsidiary as a specialist in video and data collaboration, digital signage and presentation offerings.

Vitec, like Imago, also offers consultancy, project management, installation support, and training. It is a separate company to listed video player Vitec Group – which is headquartered in Suffolk.

The Vitec-Imago deal is expected to be completed in the next few weeks.
