Softcat prepares for print boom with new team
Reseller sets up a dedicated managed print service team
Softcat is readying itself for a boom in managed print services by setting up a new team dedicated to the market.
The unit will focus on supplying managed print services (MPS) and products across the VAR's entire customer base including public sector and commercial customers of all sizes.
Softcat claims the new group will be well placed to capitalise on the changing print landscape.
‘'Looking at the market and listening to our customers, there is clearly a shift taking place in the print market," said sales manager Matthew Jones. "We are investing in this area, as we are seeing more and more clients move their print estate from uncontrolled capital expenditure to an operational cost.
"We see this shift across all verticals, both within the enterprise and public sector markets. With a dedicated team, we will work with our customers to deliver a more cost-effective and efficient print service to their business."
Softcat added that half of the large companies it works with – those with more than 1,000 staff – are using some form of managed print services already, with a further 20 per cent planning to do so within the next 12 months.
Rhys Lawson, Softcat's managed print business manager, added: "The MPS market continues to gain momentum as companies seek to tackle escalating print costs and drive greater business efficiency.
"As more businesses enter the second and third phases of their MPS engagements, expanded services and solutions that support broader process automation initiatives are proving to be a key differentiator among the leading MPS providers."
