Phoenix goes for Gold with Huawei after contract blitz
IT services heavyweight posts positive update
Phoenix IT Group has issued an upbeat company update celebrating contract wins totalling £16m and the attainment of Gold partner status with Huawei.
The London-listed IT services outfit today issued a statement to the market claiming that all three of its divisions – Managed Services, Partner, and Business Continuity – have enjoyed notable successes in recent weeks. The Managed Services division recently signed a five-year contract to provide a wide rage of services to South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust – a new customer for Phoenix.
Meanwhile, the firm's Partner operation has expanded its engagement with the UK government working alongside BAE Systems Applied Intelligence. Phoenix has been subcontracted by the firm formerly known as Detica since September 2013 to provide vairous services to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The contract has now been extended to cover two other government bodies for periods of three and five years.
Phoenix's Business Continuity unit has also won some lucrative business of late, with today's statement claiming the division recently inked a three-year renewal of its contract with its second-largest customer. The IT services house has also recently put its first customer live on its CloudSure UK public cloud platform.
The company, which was expelled from Cisco's channel programme last year after years as a top-level partner, is now accredited as a Gold Partner of Huawei, one of only two in the UK. The Chinese vendor joins Avaya and HP in Phoenix's networking linecard.
"I am pleased to announce this update, representing orders valued at over £16m, which demonstrates we're off to an early but encouraging start with our new strategy," said Phoenix chief executive Steve Vaughan. "The task ahead is to ensure we translate these early, individual proof points into sustained momentum."
