Security vendor claims it can be one throat to choke with new Complete User Protection offering

Trend Micro claims its new Complete User Protection solutions can help resellers pare down the number of security vendors they work with.

The security vendor yesterday launched Smart Protection Complete and Smart Protection for Endpoint, both of which combine multiple Trend Micro technologies such as anti-virus, full disk encryption, DLP and application control in one console.

Crucially for the channel, the new offerings contain only two part numbers, said UK sales and channel director Ross Baker.

"Resellers are desperately trying to consolidate the number of vendors they work with and we're hoping we can help them with this," he said.

"Today, they may be using Becrypt for this bit, Sophos for another bit and Check Point for a third bit. Why not have one vendor for it all so there's just one arse to kick?"

Baker claimed the price point for Trend's Complete User Protection solutions, which include 24/7 support, stacks up well against the competition.

While Trend has devoted much of its marketing clout to cloud and cybersecurity of late, endpoint remains the "foundation" of the company, said Baker.

"This is a nudge to any competitor that thinks we have for one minute lost sight on the endpoint," he said.

Baker said resellers can get accredited on the offering in three to five days, saving them the bother of swatting up on multiple vendors.

"We are helping both the resellers and end users consolidate as there are too many of us [vendors] doing the same thing and we need to make it easier for everyone," he added.
