SCC cosies up to Oracle as it opens dedicated practice

Reseller creates formal Oracle unit to drive 'lofty' sales goals

SCC has created a dedicated Oracle practice in response to what it describes as soaring demand for the vendor's kit.

The new Oracle division will draw together elements from across SCC's business into what it claims will be a "more structured and coherent model" as it looks to reach its "lofty" sales ambitions.

The practice – which will be run by SCC's general manager for software and SAM Peter Spreadbury – will consist of dedicated sales specialists and increased pre-sales and datacentre capability.

The reseller said the decision to launch the dedicated Oracle arm was inspired by a spate of recent high-profile contract wins.

Spreadbury said the new division will bring SCC and Oracle closer together.

"We are continually renewing our efforts across the business between our sales and services teams to identify, propose and win mutually successful sales campaigns together," he said.

"Like Oracle, we are keen to develop and extend value-adding relationships where we can lever core competencies to reach markets and customers in ways we might otherwise find difficult."

Oracle's channel vice president Will O'Brien agreed and said the future looked bright for the pair.

"We thank SCC for its commitment as we look forward with confidence to this next stage of our partnership," he said.
