Pure Data Solutions beefs up services with Servatech buy

Yorkshire-based VAR plots further acquisitions after first six-figure deal

Ambitious VAR Pure Data Solutions has jumped on the IT services wagon with the acquisition of local rival Servatech Limited for an undisclosed sum.

The six-figure acquisition will see Servatech’s 53 sales, admin, management and IT services staff become part of the Yorkshire-based group, swelling overall ranks to more than 100 employees, including 38 more services and technically based personnel.

According to the firm's statement, the newly combined group will hit turnover of £17.7m and reach an anticipated pre-tax profit of £1m.

As a result of the deal, Servatech will continue to work from its HQ in Wakefield, which will now become the new Group HQ and registered office as it pushes for further growth and more acquisitions, particularly in the South.

Pure Data said the deal will benefit both sets of customers, with Servatech’s managed services being made available to Pure Data’s customers, and Servatech’s customers benefitting from Pure Data’s increased buying power.

Servatech Co founder Pino Pastore is set to take early retirement and move abroad as a result of the sale, but other co-founder Steve Spence, will stay on in the enlarged Group and take responsibility for service sales.

Stephen O’Brien, chief executive of Pure Data Group, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Steve Spence, Graeme Atkinson and the Servatech team to the group. I’m both satisfied with the deal and hugely excited by this important milestone in the growth of Pure Data Solutions, not to mention the significant increase in deliverable capabilities to our enlarged client base. This takes us from being a successful local product reseller to nationwide IT Solution and Services integrator”

O’Brien added: “We are passionate about the work that we do, resulting in an efficient, prompt and honest service. Our goal is always to create a sense of ‘family’, with a culture that is one of open and warm communication within a supportive working environment. The acquisition of Servatech further underlines our commitment to bring the best of breed in all that is IT to our valued, combined client-base.”

Spence added: “We were impressed with the progress Pure Data has made in such a short period of time. Their sales drive and new business development engine is incredibly efficient. Pino and I felt it represented a great opportunity for our loyal staff and clients to be part of such an exciting growth story. I’m really looking forward to working with Steve O’Brien and his dynamic team.”
