Arcserve optimistic after finalising CA divorce
Data-protection firm looks to the future after ditching former parent firm
Former CA arm Arcserve has officially parted ways with the vendor, marking its first days as an independent firm by talking up its new channel strategy.
The firm announced its plans to separate from CA last month and said today that Friday was its first day as an independent outfit.
It is now owned by Marlin Equity Partners - who snapped up the firm for an undisclosed sum - but still operates with the same 43,000 customers and almost 8,500 channel partners it did while under the CA umbrella.
On sealing the deal to break away from CA, Arcserve said it is preparing for an "exciting new expansion chapter".
"Continuing our heritage as a very profitable organisation, our incremental investments in the business are positioning us to aggressively accelerate our growth," said chief executive Mike Crest.
But its bullish growth plans depend heavily on the channel, according to its vice president for global sales, Chris Ross.
"Arcserve is 100 per cent committed to our global network of distributors, resellers and service providers as a stand-alone company," he said.
"We are looking forward to accelerating business opportunities and launching new programmes. The new company's focus will enable us to further redefine the competitive landscape... and aggressively challenge legacy niche and other complex solutions to provide a real alternative to end users looking for enterprise-class features delivered as a complete solution that is easy to deploy and manage."
