No Great Depression for NG Bailey IT Services
Cisco Gold partner achieves eight per cent growth amid worst economic climate 'for over 70 years'
NG Bailey IT Services has recorded an annual sales spike amid what it claims has been "the toughest economic climate for over 70 years".
The VAR – part of engineering, IT and facilities services outfit NG Bailey – saw revenues clamber eight per cent to £56m in its fiscal 2014 ending 28 February.
This is despite the wider NG Bailey group witnessing a 10 per cent drop in sales to £380m for the period.
A Cisco Gold partner, NG Bailey IT Services specialises in the design, supply, installation, management and maintenance of voice, data and structured cabling solutions.
NG Bailey IT Services managing director Bob Dunnett said being part of a larger group is giving the division's base of enterprise, contracting and public sector clients "reassurance in what is an increasingly competitive operating environment".
"The year has also seen us expand our customer base across a greater range of sectors including electronic security and PAT testing, which in turn has given us the opportunity to expand our knowledge [and] employee base and gather more pace as an IT services supplier of choice," Dunnett added.
NG Bailey attributed the drop in group turnover to "continued challenges in the traditional building construction sector" and its ploy of avoiding low-margin business. Underlying operating profit for the year hit £2.1m.
NG Bailey chief executive David Hurcomb hailed the performance of the IT Services division.
"The division has pursued a strategy of focusing on consistently excellent client service, while also broadening out its reach across new sectors." he said.
"This approach is paying off and provides solid foundations for continued success."
